Gold Medal Tourists

Γειά σου! I’ve been practicing my Greek! Kyle just stands back and analyzes the local’s face to judge my pronunciation. Of course we’ve been busy since the last time I wrote.

Saturday we booked a bus tour from Thessaloniki to Meteora- something that had been on our list since before we were even sure that we’d actually get to Greece! Meteora is a series of monasteries built on top of sandstone mountains that makes them look like they are floating in heaven. There are six monasteries still standing of the original 24. During our day we could see all 6 of them and got to tour 2- The Monastery of St. Stephen and The Monastery of Varlaam. The inside of them is just as breathtaking as the views across the mountains. The company that we toured with will definitely be on my list of recommendations, plus they have offices all over Greece!

Sunday we went to the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum. It was so cool to learn more about the history of the games, especially being this close to Opening Ceremonies in Paris. After that, we got some great views of the city from Sky Line, a rotating bar at the top of a tower overlooking Thessaloniki. We want to go back at night soon.

Monday was our next appointment at EmbryoLab. Everything is still progressing as expected, all good things to hear. We scheduled our egg retrieval for Thursday morning! After retrieval, the clinical team will fertilize them and watch them grow for 5-6 days. Think positive baby thoughts for us over the next few days while we wait to see if they fertilize and are healthy!

I’ll have some down time after retrieval tomorrow, so I’ll check back in then with what we’ve done since that appointment and how retrieval went.
